21.04.2016 12:21

Tikkurila annually chooses and rewards the “Social Project of the Year”. The 2015 winner is Tikkurila Kazakhstan and their “Bright Childhood” project in Almaty.

Sustainable Beauty is Tikkurila’s program for social responsibility. With the help of the program, we inspire people and communities to improve their living environment and to create beautiful, sustainable and user-friendly environments. By actively participating in projects where paint and colors create joy, comfort, and sustainable beauty, we are able to contribute to people’s well-being and sense of community.

Since 2012, we have taken part in approximately 100 Sustainable Beauty projects in 12 countries where we operate. In 2015, Tikkurila’s paints and coatings were used to renovate and decorate building façades, parks, day care centers and their yards as well as schools, among others.

Social Project of the Year 2015

Tikkurila annually chooses and rewards the “Social Project of the Year”. The 2015 winning project was chosen among the Sustainable Beauty projects Tikkurila companies have completed during the year. The award is an additional donation for the country for their future community projects. The award underlines the importance of social responsibility and Tikkurila’s active contribution to local communities.

The 2015 winner is Tikkurila Kazakhstan and their “Bright Childhood” project. In Almaty, Tikkurila has turned the building of the School of Fine Arts and Technical Design into an artistic masterpiece. The mural is called “Bright Childhood” with the key message that every child is talented. This project, initiated by Tikkurila, is the first street art mural project in the Central Asian region.

“In addition to offering our customers high-quality products and
services, Tikkurila wants to inspire people in Kazakhstan by bringing
vibrant colors to grey cities. Mural artwork brings joy to local
citizens and also builds a positive company image. We wish to facilitate
positive discussions about street art in Kazakhstan. With this project,
we also wanted to emphasize the talents and opportunities every child
has with the support of adults,” says Anton Peshkov, General Director of TOO Tikkurila, and he further adds:

latest community projects have received a lot of good attention and
positive feedback here in Kazakhstan. We really appreciate this
acknowledgement from the Group. The award supports our future social
responsibility initiatives. We have very interesting plans!”

The murals were designed by the Argentinian street artist Marina Zumi (@marinazumi) and completed with the help of over 40 school children from the School of Fine Arts as well as local journalists and bloggers. The painted surface is over 900 square meters. It took two weeks and over 530 liters of paints in 12 colors to complete the murals in Almaty.
